Andrew Updegrove
Partner, Attorney at Gesmer Updegrove LLP
About
Andrew Updegrove negotiates mergers and acquisitions for the emerging high-technology companies he has advised since 1979, and he handles financings and acquisitions for mature companies as well. Over his career he has taken hundreds of fast-growing clients from an early concept to an established business, reviewing their business plans, advising on how to structure the company, and introducing them to financing sources. He represents those clients in angel, venture capital, bank, and public financings, and he speaks often on financing, emerging company issues, and mergers and acquisitions. A partner at Gesmer Updegrove LLP, he holds a J.D. from Cornell University Law School and a B.A. from Yale University, and he is a certified mediator. He is also known for forming and advising more than 220 standard setting, open source, and advocacy consortia, and he has served on the boards of the American National Standards Institute and The Linux Foundation. Much of his time goes to strategic advice for the firm's clients, which he brings to the negotiation and closing of their mergers and acquisitions.
