Eric Schmitz serves as a Business Broker at Benchmark Business Group. He began his career at Principal Financial Group in Des Moines. He moved into self-employment in 2001. He spent several years in real estate sales and investment. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics at Loras College, with an emphasis in Economics. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1995. He bought his first business in 2007 and, through acquiring businesses, learned the full acquisition cycle firsthand: negotiating, arranging financing, conducting due diligence, and closing and transitioning. As a former owner he understands the pressures and emotions sellers face, and he brings working knowledge of the financial and tax consequences of ownership to both buying and selling.
